STA Travel Paper Ticket
CHANGING THE ROUTE OR ADDING A STOP TO YOUR EXISTING ITINERARYDepending on the type of fare you purchased, your route may or may not be changeable, which includes adding a stop. Some fares may require you to upgrade to the next applicable fare requiring payment of the difference in fare plus any fees. Complete the Travel Help Request Form for further information.
EXTENDING TICKET VALIDITYTickets are valid for the periods shown on the ticket itself and cannot be extended. Depending on the fare type you have purchased, some tickets may be applied toward the purchase of the new ticket for the dates you require. You will pay the fare difference plus any fees associated with the exchange. Complete the Travel Help Request Form for further information.
OBTAINING A REFUNDDepending on the type of fare you purchased, some tickets may be refunded directly by the carrier or may only be processed by the STA Travel location where you purchased your ticket. Please contact the STA Travel location where you purchased the ticket for more information.
CHANGING THE TRAVEL DATEChanges can usually be made within the validity of the ticket. To view the validity of your ticket, look for the date in the Not Valid After (‘NVA’) box for the flight you want to change. If your new date is prior to this date, you might be able to change your travel date
Also, take a look at the restrictions/endorsements box at the top of your ticket. This may have additional information such as “CHANGES NOT PERMITTED” or "TRAVEL MON-WED ONLY." These types of endorsement will usually mean that your ticket cannot be changed or may only be changed as indicated.
To make changes or to see if your ticket can be changed, please contact your nearest Travel Help branch, and they will be able to offer further guidance. All changes are subject to flight availability. The fee charged for changing your date and amending your ticket is the equivalent of $35.
CHANGING THE ROUTE OR ITINERARYMaking changes to your itinerary may involve simply reissuing your ticket or may require that the unused value of your old ticket be applied toward a completely new ticket. STA Travel will help you determine which option best meets your needs. For all changes to routing, we will contact the original STA Travel branch where your purchase was made--a process that will take approximately 24-48 hours. In the event your ticket may not be reissued, a Credit Value is determined which may then be applied toward the new purchase. To request a change to your route or itinerary you will be charged a fee of US $50 per ticket. You will also need to pay any difference in ticket price between your Credit Value and the cost of your new ticket, if applicable. To make changes or to see if your ticket can be changed, please contact your nearest Travel Help branch, and they will be able to offer further guidance.
EXTENDING TICKET VALIDITYThe validity of your ticket cannot be extended. You may, however, be able to obtain a Credit Value (see below) on your ticket. This can be put toward the cost of another ticket for your new travel plans.
Contact your nearest Travel Help branch and they will advise you further
USING A CREDIT VALUE TOWARD THE PURCHASE OF A NEW TICKETSTA Travel is the only travel company that offers this unique option. Essentially, a Credit Value is a calculation of the remaining value of the unused part of your ticket. Your Credit Value can be used toward the cost of purchasing another product from STA Travel, and it’s up to you which product you purchase. You may, after getting a Credit Value, decide to keep your existing arrangements. The Credit Value will only be activated when you tell us that you want to use it. The cost to request a Credit Value is $50 per ticket. In the event you decide to keep your current arrangements, the fee is non-refundable. A Credit Value is only valid for the calendar month in which it is given, so you will need to ask for another Credit Value if you don’t use it within the same month. Credit Values can be requested on STA Travel Blue Tickets™ for up to two years from the original date of issue.
Credit Values do not exist on all unused portions of a ticket. In some cases, no value remains. Contact your nearest Travel Help location for assistance.
OBTAINING A REFUNDRefunds can only be assessed and processed by the STA Travel division from which your ticket was purchased. To obtain a refund, you will need to send your ticket to the original office of purchase and ask for them to assess your ticket for a refund. The issuing office will process any monies that are due.
LOST TICKETSIn the event of lost or stolen tickets, contact your nearest Travel Help location. You will need to provide them with the following information:
- Location of original ticket purchase
- Date of purchase
- Name of Traveler
- Airline
- Routing/Itinerary
- Ticket number or copy of ticket if you have it
The Travel Help staff will then contact the STA Travel location where your ticket was issued for authorization to reissue the ticket. This process will take approximately 24-48 hours and you will be charged a fee equivalent to US $50
Standard Paper Ticket
CHANGING THE TRAVEL DATETickets purchased in the US: If you purchased a “paper ticket” (i.e. you have actual cardboard flight coupons for each sector of your trip) changes may only be made by contacting the airline directly once you have departed North America. Find a list of airline phone numbers below.
STA Travel must make any changes prior to your departure from North America directly. Please either contact your local STA Travel branch or call +99412 4980880. Paper ticket holders will be required to return their original tickets to STA Travel before any changes can be processed. After departure you must contact the airline directly.
Many airline tickets are subject to advance purchase requirements. These rules are printed on your Blue STA Travel Itinerary. Your STA Travel Advisor will discuss these and any other restrictions with you when you call to request your date change.
